David Gillespie

David Gillespie has been enchanted with learning from a young age. The Chronicles of Narnia, read aloud by his father, first captured his imagination and then led him to a fascination with beautiful writing and C.S. Lewis. His interest in history was sparked by a trip to Gettysburg in the fifth grade, and he went on to study history at Dickinson College. He also holds a Master of Arts in Teaching from Drew University.

With experience teaching in both public and private schools, he is grateful for the opportunity to be part of the faculty at Lumen Gentium Academy, where, as a humanities teacher, he can integrate his passion for history and literature. It is a dream come true to grapple with the greatest literature in the company of history’s most fascinating characters.

Mr Gillespie is married to a fellow history teacher, Sarah, and they live in Cedar Lake with their two children. They have been delighted to see their own children fall in love with learning at OLMC School. As a family, they enjoy visiting historical sites, kayaking on the lake, and cooking. On other days, he can be found trying to put a dent in his pile of “to-be-read” books!
