A Note from the Headmaster

As Fall gets underway, we have much to be thankful for at Lumen Gentium Academy. Our whole student body and faculty enjoyed their annual retreat last Friday. The day began with a rigorous hike up Pyramid Mountain, and a visit to Tripod Rock -- New Jersey's Stonehenge. Our students ably stepped up to the challenge of hypothesizing about how such a strange geological feature could have come about. This was followed by lunch and a rousing game of flag football at the home of our gracious hosts. We closed the day with a meditation on the Parable of the Prodigal Son, from the Gospel of Luke. It was a day of physical, mental and spiritual rejuvenation, which could be seen in the renewed energy at school this week. Thank you for all you do for LGA. Please continue to pray for us.

October 13th: University of Dallas Visit

We are planning our first Field Study for Thursday, October 7th. We will be touring Gettysburg National Military Park with a tour guide, and visiting their Visitor center and Museum. Students will leave from Boonton at 6:30 a.m. and arrive home around 9:00 p.m. More details to follow. The cost for the trip will be collected through FACTs.

Lumen Gentium Academy is invited to the OLMC Pig Roast on October 1st, 6:00-9:00 p.m. The event begins with the Rosary at 5:45 p.m., followed by great food, dancing and lots of fun!

We are searching for a used basketball hoop for our courtyard. If you or anyone you know has one, please let us know! It would be a great addition to lunchtime!

Thank you to our faculty and the Home and School Association for all your efforts to provide the beautiful retreat for our students last week. And a special thank you to the Martinson family for welcoming us to your home!

Some students still have not submitted completed and signed permission forms, contact forms, and textbook forms, They are available at the Parent Portal, and hard copies were sent home this week. Please return these completed forms to LGA next week. Thank you.

A Message from Chanticleers for Life

Beginning on August 15th, hundreds of thousands of Afghans were displaced from their homes. Many sought refuge in America. There are over 9,000 Afghan refugees currently awaiting permanent housing in New Jersey alone! And these people need our help! Most of these refugees are living with the few belongings that they were able to grab quickly, so they lack basic necessities such as toiletries, cold weather clothing, etc. LGA’s Pro-Life club, the Chanticleers for Life, have organized a donations drive for Afghans living here in New Jersey, on Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst; any and all donations are welcome! The types of items especially sought after are featured in the image below.

Please turn in your items to the collection boxes at LGA by this Monday, September 27th.
