Matt Vecchione

Matt Vecchione is chemistry and mathematics teacher at Lumen Gentium Academy.  This is his first year and is very excited to be a part of the LGA family.  Matt graduated from Rider University where he obtained his Bachelor’s of Science in chemistry, graduating summa cum laude.  Shortly after, Matt pursued his Master’s of Science in organic chemistry from Rutgers University.  It was here where Matt fell in love with teaching.  Being a lab assistant and recitation instructor for college level general and organic chemistry allowed Matt to find his true passion, teaching.

After graduating with his Master’s.  Matt worked in industry as quality control chemist and more recently, as a lab technician at ExxonMobil.  At Exxon, Matt worked with various analytical instruments where he analyzed the composition of crude oil samples all over the world. While working at Exxon, Matt also obtained his Master’s of Business Administration with a concentration of finance from NJIT.  However, he always felt he was missing something that was truly keeping him from being happy.  While working full time, Matt decided to take up tutoring.  Teaching both chemistry and mathematics, Matt would tutor at various tutoring centers and on his own.  He particularly enjoys SAT/ACT test prep.  It is something he does even to this day.

Matt is a firm believer that education can only help you see your true potential and can open doors you never knew existed.  He is a lifelong New Jersey resident.  Matt is married with 2 kids, ages 5 and 8.  He resides in Delaware Township in Hunterdon County.  In his spare time he enjoys watching sports, hanging out with family and friends, and going down to the shore
